12 April 2008 - 10:55Three upcoming events
It’s been really busy for me these days. I haven’t had time to come up for air, but given the huge work project, it’s better to keep my head down in the trenches, popping up occasionally to make sure we’re headed in the right direction at work. I love the thrill of huge projects with tight deadlines and the fact that a lot of fresh, new approaches are being explored at work.
The three upcoming events are:
1. IABC Ottawa Speaker Series with Brendan Hodgson on Thursday, April 17 from 5 pm to 7 pm: Brendan will be talking about the impact of social media on crisis communications. I think there’s two spots left - check out www.iabcottawa.ca for registration info. You should also check out Brendan’s blog - he writes well and offers succinct and concise information about various aspects of digital communications.
2. 2008 Government Communicator’s Conference from April 23 to 24: Mitch Joel will be giving the opening keynote and holding a session on branding. There’s also going to be a technolab where I’m volunteering on the first day from 10 am to 1 pm - pop by and say hello, I’ll be walking fellow communicators through wikis, podcasts, blogs, etc. I’m also looking forward to saying hi to Mitch - fellow government folk, come on down, it will be worth your while to hear him speak.
3. CPRS Awards in November 2008: I am on the awards committee, in charge of marketing and communications for the event. So far, we have decided on a theme (PuRe Elements Awards - Changing Ottawa’s PR Landscape) and judging categories and criteria. More information will be available on the CPRS Ottawa-Gatineau website. If you are interested in volunteering on my team, drop me a line at chamikak [at] gmail [dot] com. The rest of the committee is also great, I really love the energy we have as a planning group.
My side resolution - running in a 10K this year - is also coming along.Life right now is a process of becoming…
